ABOUT MUSICAL TOUCH MASSAGE THERAPY:

"My name is Billy Atwell. I am the proprietor and primary therapist at Musical Touch Massage Therapy. I have studied and performed music for the past 33 years. I've been in bands, toured the world, put out some records, flirted with the Broadway pit, passionately explored the mosh pit and had some home runs and near misses. I also received alot of massages along the way in places like Jamaica and Greece as well as spas and Tu-Ina centers in the New York City and New Jersey areas.

"From the latter I felt I'd gained a strange insight into the art of massage so I enrolled at the Academy of Massage Therapy in Jersey City, NJ in January of 2009. In July I became a member of The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). I graduated in late September of 2009 with honors.  I have since become a CERTIFIED MASSAGE THERAPIST recognized by The National Certification Board for Theraputic Massage and Bodywork.

"Formative sessions encouraged some very promising feedback during clinics. One client described what she experienced as not simply a massage, but rather an "aura cleansing". Later in one of my final clinics a delicate woman on the cusp of 80 years of age told me that I had "found my calling". At the school's Hackensack clinic I worked on many body types both male and female. All sorts of muscle density and pathologies, too. I even worked on a rather fit and recently retired Bergen County police officer who was relieved to find someone that could go deep enough to release the trigger points that left him racked with dull aches and sharp muscle pains years after leaving his beat.

"Whatever natural skills I may have had were very much honed by the incredible instructors at The Academy. My experience there along with the profound level of comaradarie will always remain a special and revered part of my path pursuing wellness.

"All in all this past year has been a fascinating journey. It's a grand blessing to be able to finally assist people as a professional massage therapist while remaining creatively active as an instrumentalist and composer. To this day I still do music production and perform every weekend as a professional drummer. I'm also composing for clients like Johns Hopkins University as well as working on my own theraputic sound art pieces to facilitate greater states of relaxation druing my sessions.

PROFESSIONAL CODE OF ETHICS AND CONDUCT

Billy Atwell / Musical Touch Massage Therapy acknowledge and recognize the Code of Ethics as outlined by the AMTA: 

Massage therapists shall:

1. Demonstrate commitment to provide the highest quality massage therapy/bodywork to those who seek their professional service.

2. Acknowledge the inherent worth and individuality of each person by  not discriminating or behaving in any prejudicial manner with clients and/or colleagues.

3. Demonstrate professional excellence through regular self-assessment of strengths, limitations, and effectiveness by continued education and training.

4. Acknowledge the confidential nature of the professional relationship with clients and respect each client's right to privacy.

5. Conduct all business and professional activities within their scope of practice, the law of the land, and project a professional image.

6. Refrain from engaging in any sexual conduct or sexual activities involving their clients.

7. Accept responsibility to do no harm to the physical, mental and emotional well-being of self, clients, and associates
